The Mike Louie Group
Mike was on the road touring the East coast and Canada with a 7 piece band early in his musical life. After many years in corporate life, he has resumed his musical career by leading his own jazz groups in Chicago and the suburbs for the last 7 years.

Frank Portolese
Jazz Guitarist Frank Portolese has been active in the Chicago area as a performer and teacher for over 20 years. His performing credits include Eddie Harris, Les McCann, David Baker, Shelley Manne, Ira Sullivan, Catherine Russell, Claude “Fiddler” Williams, Bobby Shew and many others.
 
Frank’s debut CD, “Transparent” is on the Southport label and his second release, “Last Call”, also on Southport, was released in February 2000. His work has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Reader and magazines such as Jazz Times, Cadence, Guitar Player and Just Jazz Guitar. He stays busy as a leader and sideman in many performing situations locally and throughout the country.
 
Frank directs the Jazz Program for Midwest Young Artists, a Youth Music Organization located at Fort Sheridan, and his MYA Senior Jazz Combo participated in the 1998 Aberdeen (Scotland) International Youth Festival to rave reviews. He also teaches at Elmhurst College, and his past teaching credits include the American Conservatory of Music and the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Camp.

Mike Jeffers- Drumset
 
Mike Jeffers is the founder and president of Chicago's #1 resource for jazz information ChicagoJazz.com and Chicago Jazz Magazine. Chicago Jazz Magazine is also the official publisher of the city of Chicago's Blues Festival and Jazz Festival programs. In addition Jeffers also books some of Chicago's finest jazz talent through his other company Chicago Jazz Entertainment.
 
While in high school Jeffers got his start in music when he was accepted into a local community college's advanced jazz percussion ensemble and jazz band. He began performing throughout the Midwest with both of these ensembles. One of his highlights included a performance at the world famous Carnegie Hall in New York.
 
Jeffers next attended the University of North Texas on a full scholarship. While in college he studied with Ed Soph, Dr. Robert Schietroma, She-e Wu and Paul Rennick. He performed with big bands, small groups, steel pan ensembles and percussion ensembles throughout the U.S. He was also a member of the World Championship North Texas Drumline.
 
Upon returning to Chicago Jeffers began studying with Chicago drummer Joel Spencer and performing at many of Chicago's most well known Jazz clubs such as the Green Mill, Green Dolphin Street, Andy's Jazz Club, Pops for Champagne, the Bop Shop and many others. He performed several times with legendary drummer Louie Bellson and has also worked with Frank D'Rone, Johnny Frigo, Von Freeman and many others.
 
Jeffers soon joined, Smashing Pumpkins, cellist Eric Remshnieder's trio and performed every Friday and Saturday for four years at the #1 hotel in North America, The Peninsula Hotel in Chicago.
 
In addition to running his own trios and performing at numerous conventions, private events and concerts Jeffers is also a member of one of Chicago's hottest new rock groups by the name of Detagoh (pronounced Day-Tah-Go). Detagoh has been performing for Clear Channel Entertainment at arenas throughout the Midwest, has been featured on WGN radio's John Williams show, Steve Cocharan show and the Nick Diggilio show, they also have headlined at such venues as the House of Blues, Double Door, Martyr's, Wise Fools Pub, Elbo Room and many others.

Nick Schneider- Bass
 
Nick Schneider is rated as one of the top bass players in jazz today. Nick has performed throughout the world with such jazz legends as the legendary The Tonight Show Band, The Buddy Rich Big Band, Randy Brecker, Eddie Higgins, Buddy Greco, Teddy Wilson, Rosemary Clooney, Johnny Frigo, Frank D'Rone just to name a few.
 
Nick is also a member of The Bruce Oscar Trio which currently hosts one of the longest running Jazz Jam sessions in the Chicagoland area, over 15 years.
 
Nick is also a member of the Arts Center Collective , a septet of musicians residing primarily in the upper Midwest. The Arts Center Jazz Collective is available for clinics and concerts. The group not only has an abundance of professional performance experience but they are also well know educators who are devoted to passing the rich traditions of jazz on to up and coming musicians.

Chris White-Piano
 
Pianist Chris White hails from Toronto, Canada. After obtaining a B.A. in English from the University of Toronto, Chris decided to focus his studies entirely on music. In 1997 he attended Indiana University's School of Music and pursued his Masters degree in Jazz Studies, graduating with a Phi Kappa Lamda award (National Music Honors Society) and elected to the Who's Who of American College Students in 1999.
 
Gaining valuable experience in Indianapolis, he performed with The Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, David Baker, Jamey Aebersold and Oliver Nelson, Jr. In August 2000 Chris was invited to perform in the Steans Institute for Young Artists at Ravinia hosted by James Moody, Rufus Reid and David Baker.
 
Currently he is an instructor of jazz piano, jazz history and jazz theory at Loyola University and is on the faculty of The University of Wisconsin's Indianhead Arts Center summer Jazz and Combo camp. He also teaches adult piano at Northwestern University's Music Academy and at Lake Forest College. Chris is a busy freelance musician in the Chicago area, performing at countless venues in the area such as The House of Blues, Navy Pier, Nordstrom, The Peninsula Hotel, the Palmer House Hilton, and many more.
